AI search prompt generator for brand monitoring
Describe the category, the buyer and what they need, and get a balanced set of questions people might put to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude or Google's AI features. Unbranded questions show whether your brand comes up unprompted; branded ones show how it is described. Generated in your browser from fixed templates; no AI model is called.
Why monitor questions, not keywords
People ask assistants full questions with context: who they are, what they need, what they already use. Answers change with that wording. A monitoring set needs questions across the stages of a purchase, not one head term.
Keep unbranded questions as the core of the set. They are the only ones that can show whether an assistant recommends you when the buyer has not named you. Branded questions check how you are described once a buyer knows the name.
How the questions are built
Each buyer intent has a small set of fixed templates written for B2B purchases. Your inputs fill them in; use cases add one or two questions each. With a brand name, branded questions are added; with competitors, head-to-head and switching questions too. You can also add questions from PromptMentions's curated starter library for nine B2B software categories.
Example
Category "expense management software", customer "finance teams at agencies", use case "approve receipts from a phone" gives, among others: "What is the best way to approve receipts from a phone for finance teams at agencies?" and "Which expense management software help finance teams at agencies approve receipts from a phone?". Edit wording that reads awkwardly; templates cannot know every phrase.
Turning questions into monitoring
One answer is an anecdote: assistants vary between runs, models and locations. Ask each question repeatedly over time, record the provider, model, locale and date, and count mentions and citations only over answers that actually came back. That is what PromptMentions does with a prompt set.
Limitations
- Questions come from templates, not from data about what people actually ask. They carry no search volume, frequency or popularity.
- Grammar depends on the inputs; review and edit before using a question.
- Templates are written in English for B2B software and services.
- Nothing is checked against a real AI answer here. To see answers, ask the assistants yourself or monitor the set.
Questions
How many questions should a monitoring set have?
Enough to cover each buying stage you care about with several wordings: 15 to 30 is a practical start for one product. More questions reduce the effect of any single odd answer, but every question must be run repeatedly to mean anything.
Do these questions reflect real search volume?
No. They are generated from templates and your inputs. No volume, ranking or demand data is behind them.
Should I include my brand name?
Include both. Unbranded questions test whether assistants recommend you unprompted; branded questions test what they say about you.
Can I import the questions into PromptMentions?
Yes. "Download for PromptMentions" writes the first 20 shown questions in the CSV format the prompt-set import reads, with the intent as a topic tag.
